Leaf Raking Service Project

On Veteran’s Day, Chris J, Gerard Q, Joe M, Matt C, and Jon-Luc L cleaned up Mr. Mancuso’s back and front yard of leaves. Some of the dads were there, too. Mr. Mancuso is a veteran of WWII. He was really nice and showed us some things from when he was in war. In his driveway there was a pile of leaves the size of 2 cars!

Due to a mix up, Gerard, Joe, Matt and Jon-Luc all went to the wrong house and raked a woman’s entire yard! I wasn’t there but they said she needed it.

Minute Cub Muster

It was a nice day in Westford when we went to the Minute Cub Muster. The MCM is an activity for Cub Scouts for the most part, and Boy Scouts worked as staff. The MCM explained and reenacted the colonists fighting the Red Coats! At the muster, there was axe throwing, water carrying (for the water supply in the staff section), and a lot of stations showing the tools the colonials used: gun powder/ ammo, knives, etc. There were rifles too!

I was on the staff working at a few stations. One of them was shooting the Cub Scouts (with marshmallow rifles). When they tripped a bell while walking past a field of strings, we were instructed to fire! And as I mentioned earlier, I carried water for the staff. Andrew D and I carried SO MANY gallons of water back and forth from the school to the field. Most of the Boy Scouts that went wanted service hours and wanted to have fun!

Cape Cod Bike Ride

On Cape Cod, we did a 27 mile bike ride. We rode about 3 miles out of Nickerson State Park, 21 miles on the rail trail, and 3 miles back into the campsite. We all had a lot of fun on the trip. For lunch, we ate lunches that we had packed at the back of a museum and had a great view of a lake. (Check the Internal website in Photos under "2010-10-02 Cape Cod Bike Trip"). Then we biked all along Cape Cod and stopped by a beach. We finally got back to the trails in the park and there was a huge hill we were going to speed down, but there was a "parade" of people walking for cancer and we couldn't go down the hill as fast as we wanted. We pretty much had to brake down the whole hill. For dinner, we had meatballs and noodles. It was awesome! I thought that the Cape Cod Bike Trip was really fun.
